A feline mask, gloves and tail set. Made on commission (sold)

This is also my fist try at integrating the costume portrait into a bit of a photomanipulation. I didn't alter the mask or gloves at all (except for a little color correction), but I gave her a new dress and put her in front of that window. It was a lot of fun, so I think I might do more of this in the future.

Where do you get the fur to make these fantastic costumes!?
lady-cybercat Featured By Owner Nov 5, 2011  Professional Traditional Artist
This is awesome. I wish more people would do this sort of anthro/furry costumes. Realistic costumes rather than the toony mascots. Keep up the fantastic work!

I wouldn't have thought at first that the background was a photo manip ._. wow. And the mask is lovely as well, I love how you integrated the hair, it matches the fur color perfectly and looks so natural!

Love the way the dress and window turns the snapshot into a real art piece.
Gorgeous work.

I just have to say that in my opinion, when it comes to cats, you guys make the best; it makes me so mad when I see a cat mask and it just looks like a wolf with a shorter muzzle and bigger ears...Love these so much!

oh my, i love the hair you did for this mask, its more believable than a wig plopped onto a head so carelessly! I must say that im a big fan of your work, and i especially love the feline masks that you do :) expect my order in the future!
Fox-Starwing Featured By Owner Sep 19, 2011
yeah, photo manipulation is fun!
theassassinnox Featured By Owner Sep 19, 2011  Professional Artisan Crafter
Awww, she's lovely! I really like the peaches and cream sort of soft colors in this character, and the hair is really cool. (Great job color matching fake fur and hair! Or perhaps you matched hair and airbrush paint, either way, it's skillfully done!)

Your heads are resin, yes? Have you ever had any problems with crush strength? I want to try making resin masks, and would be comfortable with this as I don't travel a bunch, but I worry about sending out a commission that may be more prone to breaking than my current foam creations.
Qarrezel Featured By Owner Sep 22, 2011  Professional Artisan Crafter
So far, no, no real problems with crush problems. Some of our older masks that were made with the smooth-cast 300 had some problems with weakness along the jaw-line, but I've only had to repair two of those. These days with the smooth-cast ONYX and the reinforcement I add to high-stress areas, you have to really put some effort into breaking them. So far, we have had no mask breakage at all with that method.

That said, you'll probably want to make one and do some stress-tests on it to see whether you think it would be an improvement over your foam heads.

Awesome! Thank you so much for the reply! I'll be sure to play with this a bit (hopefully later this year).

I laughed. My brain was saying, "I do not remember posing in that..... wut."
Needless to say, yet another area that you have talent in. This is really beautiful. Everyone keeps asking if it is a painting.

Your fiRst ever try of the image processing with background and costume is surely giving more living feeling. I think you should try that more, just don't overuse it. :)
AutumnHoney Featured By Owner Sep 19, 2011
Very nice :) Not one of your best though... The hair in front looks a bit like a comb-over, maybe a bit more layering to it would have helped?

I hope you're open to constructive criticism despite how awesome you already are ^-^'
Qarrezel Featured By Owner Sep 19, 2011  Professional Artisan Crafter
This was the design: [link] [link]
AutumnHoney Featured By Owner Sep 19, 2011
ok... I still stand by it though. There could have been a bit more hair added to the front on the costume to match the design. It looks more like natural hair in the original design and somehow there seems to be missing hair on the costume, like the character is going bald. Could be the angle of the photograph, but I only have these photos to go by.

It's just constructive criticism though. I'm not going to spend time defending it more than this. It's up to you as an artist to decide whether or not to take it into consideration. *shrug*
